The Inclusive City

How do you build for community?
How do you create places that include everyone?
And how do you do it in a way that benefits the entire city?

These are questions that engage ByggVesta, the Swedish Union of Tenants, and Riksbyggen – all working to contribute to vibrant and safe neighbourhoods wherever they operate. Together with economist Stefan Fölster, they are seeking the answers.

In Den inkluderande staden (The Inclusive City), Stefan Fölster highlights the complexity of these issues and the consequences that may arise if we fail to invest in areas facing socio-economic challenges today. Drawing on robust research and successful international examples, he identifies key starting points for municipalities and urban developers to achieve positive urban development — one that builds community, fosters inclusion, and benefits the entire city.

Initiators

ByggVesta, the Swedish Union of Tenants, and Riksbyggen are the initiators of The Inclusive City.

They all work towards sustainable urban development and, to draw attention to this issue, have commissioned researcher Stefan Fölster to explore how inclusive places can be created in ways that benefit entire cities.

ByggVesta, the Swedish Union of Tenants, and Riksbyggen welcome further discussion on the topic and hope that more stakeholders will contribute their perspectives.
