Climate change is severely affecting ecosystems worldwide, and extreme weather events are expected to become increasingly common, no matter where you are on the planet. This calls for greater resilience in the environments and properties we design and manage, while also demanding a reduction of the negative climate impact we cause.
One of ByggVesta’s strategic goals for sustainable value creation is to cut our climate footprint in half by 2030 compared with 2015, and to be climate neutral by 2040. Our targets are validated by SBTi, and our commitment includes reducing our direct emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by at least 42% by 2030 (compared with baseline year 2022). This target is more ambitious than the national goal of climate neutrality by 2045, which aligns with the Paris Agreement’s aim of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. Our main focus is on reducing emissions, with strategies for balancing emissions to be developed over time.
That’s why we focus today on building climate-resilient properties, able to withstand weather challenges, constructed in ways that minimize environmental impact, designed with the most climate-efficient methods available, and prepared for resource- and energy-efficient operations with a low environmental footprint throughout their lifecycle.
