Forsåker

From Historic Paper Mill to Modern Urban District

With around 3,000 new homes and 4,000 workplaces, Forsåker is set to become an entirely new district — just 8 minutes from Gothenburg Central Station. The area’s 300-year history as a paper mill, together with the river rapids running through it, gives Forsåker its distinctive character. Historic buildings are being preserved and complemented by modern architecture, filled with restaurants, shops, culture, education, and even a hydropower plant — all contributing to an exciting, vibrant environment where the site will once again come to life.

ByggVesta’s rental housing development is located along Kvarnbygatan, which is now being transformed into an urban boulevard connecting the eastern and western parts of Mölndal. The building’s ground floor will include a mobility hub, and just nearby lies Mölndalsbro station, providing a commuter train link to Gothenburg in only 8 minutes. The location also offers proximity to the historic Kvarnbyn area and the former mill buildings where the upcoming Papyr experience center will take shape. Along the river, new residential blocks, vibrant squares, and inviting public spaces are being created.
