Rental and Tenant-Owned Apartments (Brf) in Culturally Significant Vällingby Centrum

At Fornkullen in Vällingby, ByggVesta is planning to build around 200 apartments, a mix of rental units and tenant-owned homes (Brf).

When Vällingby Centrum was completed in 1954, it became an international model for modern suburban centers and is now classified as a site of national cultural interest. The so-called ABC city concept — Arbete, Bostad, Centrum (Work, Housing, Center) — was designed to serve everyone, integrating a mix of housing types, workplaces, and a fully equipped town center with shops and public services. Despite decades of change, the area has preserved much of its valuable 1950s character.

Vällingby Centrum is not a conventional shopping mall, it’s a vibrant urban environment with open streets and public squares. In summer, residents enjoy sunny terraces and outdoor dining. Beyond shopping, there’s a wide range of entertainment, dining, cultural, and service options. The heart of cultural life is the heritage-listed building Trappan, part of Kulturhuset Stadsteatern, which focuses on local engagement and young adults.

At Fornkullen, residents will live close to Vällingby Station on the Green Metro Line, with several connecting bus routes nearby.

The surrounding area offers beautiful nature and recreation, including Grimsta Nature Reserve, swimming spots and running trails along Lake Mälaren, as well as a swimming hall, Grimsta sports field, and other athletic facilities.
