Foreign Subcontractors
"ByggVesta Open Standard" is our concept for developing "open" systems and solutions where we try to adapt the dimensions and standards, for example, concerning prefabricated concrete elements so that it should also be "easy to do the right thing" for suppliers from Germany and Latvia. If there are no environmentally-friendly alternatives for transport by rail or ship, then we develop them along with our partners.
Thorough Assessments
After a first contact, with a preliminary price indication from the subcontractor to the turn-key contractor, we carry out a comprehensive and thorough assessment.
We have a close look at their quality, references, financial strength, product competence, knowledge of Swedish rules about working conditions, collective agreements and the company's long-term interest in running and developing their business in Sweden. The turn-key contractor takes the formal last decision on the assignment. Subcontractors which perform construction works have collective agreements with Byggnads, the building workers' union, via Sveriges Byggindustrier or with Fastigo. This is the case for example with suppliers of prefabricated concrete elements from Germany or from Latvia who both have collective agreements in Sweden.
Active help to get started in Sweden
Either we or the turn-key contractor identify a new subcontractor who meets ByggVesta's demands on the right price, the right quality, sufficient financial strength and who formally state their intention of following the demands from the Swedish authorities, we take active steps to help
this subcontractor to either sign a collective agreement directly with Byggnads or indirectly by them becoming a member of Sveriges Byggindustrier. Our turn-key contractors have undertaken in their agreement with Byggnads that they will only sign agreements with subcontractors who have a collective agreement. ByggVesta often "supports" the new subcontractor in the preliminary contacts with, for example, Sveriges Byggindustrier. ABT-UE 2007, UE-04, and ID06 are examples of conditions which all subcontractors have to comply with.
