Stable low production costs in the long-term are an important factor to be able to build attractive rental apartments of high quality and with a low climate impact at reasonable rents
The ByggVesta Open Standard - working together in a more open way
ByggVesta has chosen to build rental properties according to an open European standard - an "open standard" in business terms. This means that the designs of our buildings and apartments, and our solutions, make it possible for us to select materials from wherever we choose in Europe depending on the best match with the requirements we have for high quality, reasonable prices and the lowest possible climate impact. It is ByggVesta's concept to prevent Swedish price hikes on building materials and subcontractors, having a knock-on effect on our turn-key contractors' price levels. It is a new, open and efficient way of working together.
Standardization and internationalization
ByggVesta's Open Standard is based on continually "standardizing" the company's choices of materials and solutions for concrete elements, tiling, painting contractors and so on, in cooperation with selected architects, consultants, turn-key contractors and suppliers, so that both domestic and foreign contractors are in direct competition with each other.
Close cooperation
For example, it means among other things that when it comes to purchasing prefabricated concrete elements (including erection):
- Right from the first drawings, ByggVesta's architects know exactly which sizes of concrete elements the factories around the Baltic sea are best at producing, delivering and erecting.
- Together with our contractors, ByggVesta has developed "green transport corridors" shipping in materials across the Baltic sea or by rail from northern Germany thereby cutting the CO2 emissions by 50% rather than trucking them in from Swedish factories.
- ByggVesta eliminates the risk of unnecessary reworking costs by not having any power cables molded into the inner walls.
- ByggVesta actively helps, for example, German crane operators with interpreters so that they can take a Swedish training course and take the mandatory Swedish "crane operator license".
- ByggVesta actively assists foreign companies to become members in Sveriges Byggindustrier and get the help they need to operate long-term in Sweden.
Our own construction system
This is the way we think about how we use construction systems. It means quite simply that we can offer more flexible and smarter planning of living spaces. An open standard means that each property can be uniquely adapted to its location, without it costing any more to build. At the same time we have new opportunities to make full use of attractive locations which were previously difficult to build on.
